Best Early Game Weapons & How To Get Them In The Elden Ring

The best early game weapons in Elden Ring will differ based on the character class you have opted for at the beginning of the game, so we’ll highlight a handful of options here and there for what’s best.

Twinblade

Elden Ring in Best Early Game Weapons

This weapon is an excellent choice for Dex / Str builds since it scales with Dex and does not require much static requirements (although you will still need it before using farm runes and level up). This is where you find the Dragon-Burnt Ruins in Limgrave, just the southeast where you start out at The First Steps Site. Twinfinite actually has a detailed guide explaining where to find it.

Reduvia Dagger

The Reduvia Dagger is another great choice for Dex / Str, and also Arcane as well. That’s why it scales with Dex and Arcane. To Get It, Defeat Nevirus Outside Murkwater Cave To Get The Reduvia Dagger As A Reward. Again, we have a detailed guide explaining where to find it.

Meteorite Staff

While the Astrologer’s Staff is fine for casting all the spells you need to navigate the early game as a sorcerer, it’s far from the most powerful, and even upgraded when it comes to the Meteorite Staff. This staff scales S with Intelligence, which is incredibly powerful for Intelligence Builds. It is a long way from the starting point of the game to Limgrave, but it’s possible to ride on it and get out there before you can get ahead of the enemy. Again, we have a detailed guide explaining where to find it.

Greataxe

If you have opted for a Strength Build then there is no better starting weapon than Great Hexty. With that said, you need to do a lot of points to build up your strength around the strength that you really need. Still, it’s very powerful once you have met the requirements. It is located in a chest on the back of a wagon that is towed by two giants of Limgrave, just south-east of the Gatefront Ruins. Due to their size, you really can’t miss them! Only one needs to be felled to stop the carriage and loot the chest at the rear.

Great Epee

This Great Epee is the great Dex option for those who still want a shield, which the two-handed Twinblade does not. It’s also just as easy to handle than the Twinblade, thanks to its basic stab and slash moveset. You can find it right at the southern tip of Limgrave, east of The Forlorn Hound Evergaol. There you will find an enemy encampment, and inside the base is a chest that contains the rapier.
