Getting yourself a torch in the Elden Ring is one of the first things you want to do, as it’ll help you light up the caves, or the bosses that’ll reward you handsomely. In this guide, we’ll be explaining How to get the torch and light up caves in the Elden Ringas well as how to get the lantern and what makes it worth the extra runes.
Getting a Torch in Elden Ring
You Can Buy A Torch From Kale, The Merchant At The Church Of Elleh, 200 Runes. This is one of the first places to visit when exiting the tutorial area.
Once you’ve bought the torch, you won’t have to buy it again. It doesn’t deplete or run out, so you can just equip it with your inventory when you’re exploring a dark cave or other similar areas.
Using the Torch to Elden Ring in Light Up Caves
- Open the Menu and select ‘Equipment’
This is done by pressing the ‘Options’ button on the PlayStation or Menu button on the Xbox, and then selecting ‘Equipment.’
- Screen of the top left-hand corner in the top two rows of Select any.
These are both your right and left hand for your ‘armament’ slots.
- Select the torch and press X / A to confirm you want to equip it.
- Press your left armament slots on one of your torch, or the right one on your left armament slots.
Just like that, you’re all set to use your torch in Elden Ring. It’s the world of exploring for more useful items, but if you’re finding the need to equip one of your armament slots, there’s a more expensive but superior alternative.
Getting a Lantern in Elden Ring
You can buy a lantern from the Nomadic Merchant at the Liurnia Lake Shore Site, shown below the map.
The Lantern costs 1800 Runes and cans carried passivelymeaning you attach it to your waist, keep your hands free for your shield and / or weapons.
The Lantern can be equipped with one of the ‘Quick Item’ slots at the bottom of your ‘Equipment’ screen, as shown below.
Then, when you want to use the lantern, simply select it with the down d-pad menu and you’re good to go.
