Elden Ring is the latest action-RPG from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware, and it mixes up the Souls formula with a large open-world and a few mechanics we’ve seen in past games. Among those are the weapon arts, which appear in this game as Collectible Ashes of War. Here’s How To Get The Elden Ring In The War Of The Golden Vow Ash.
Getting the Elden Ring in the Golden Vow Ash of War
There are two ways to get to the Golden Vow; The first is the golden halberd which comes with it, and the second is the killing of a specific enemy in Limgrave to get the Ash of War itself, which can be affixed to any melee armament.
Golden Halberd
If you’re feeling confident at the start of the game, you can fight the Tree Sentinel boss, who’s located just outside the Church of Elleh.

While we are recommending fighting him at the very beginning, it is possible to take him down with careful positioning, or just cheesing with him. After defeating him, he’ll drop the Golden Halberd which comes with the Golden Vow weapon art.
Do note that you can’t change the weapon on the Golden Halberd, so you’re pretty much stuck with the Golden Vow if you’re using that weapon.
Defeating the Godrick Knight
If you want more flexibility in your build, we recommend going to the Ash of War itself, which is a Godric Knight in Killing Limit.

Head up to Stormhill, and Warmster’s Shack of the Just Northeast, where you’ll find a mounted Godrick Knight patrolling the area. Upon defeating him, you get a reward like the Golden Vow Ash of War.
Head back to the site of Grace to access the Ash of War menu, and you’ll be able to attach it to any regular melee armament of your choice.
What Golden Vow Does
Golden Vow is a pretty handy weapon in the Elden Ring, as it gives you a nice buff that can really help you out with boss battles and other tough encounters.

By pressing the L2 button, it’ll give you and your nearby allies a short period of time for increased defense and attack power. This makes it a useful skill to have, especially if you’re co-opting the game through planning.
