Lost Ark adding new servers after players Review Bombed the game due to long queue times

The free-to-play MMORPG saw a massive spike in players when it was officially released in Europe and the Americas via Steam on February 11.

Steam also saw its second-highest concurrent player peak with 1,325,305 players at the same time, which is only beaten by PUBG Battlegrounds. As a result of this, the game has experienced long queue times which Amazon and Smilegate are hoping to address with a new server region.

Players were unhappy when they simply could not play the game which resulted in the game tanking in its player reviews. There is more about that in this article here.

The companies have stated that “Due to the game’s architecture this is the only way to accommodate more players in Europe so it’s a joint effort between Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG,” they also stated they are working on it 24/7 until its live.

“The new region will be ideal for players who have not yet created their character or haven’t otherwise committed to stay on their existing server,” they said. It would be important to note that the existing Central European one won’t support cross-region play should players choose to swap.

Region-wide features like Royal Crystal and Silver balances won’t transfer between regions either. I guess we will see if the new servers help in taking the load off the current ones right now I presume this is the price the developers play for underestimating the player base of a game.
