MCU: Spider-Man director Jon Watts Walks Out On The ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot

Jon Watts became a worldwide known director due to his work on Spider-Man: Homecoming and its two sequels, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which also makes him a director who assembled all three live -action Spider-Men in one movie.

In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced that they’re developing a Fantastic Four reboot, which would finally bring the titular team of superheroes into the MCU, and Watts was attached to direct. Today, Deadline reported that Watts decided to exit the project. You can check Watts’ statement down below:

“Making three ‘Spider-Man’ films was an incredible and life-changing experience for me. I’m eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. I’m hopeful we’ll work together again and I can’t wait to see the amazing vision for Fantastic Four brought to life.” — Jon Watts

Not much is known about the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. The movie is set to reintroduce the popular team of superheroes on the big screen after Disney’s acquisition of FOX. FOX made the first Fantastic Four movie in 2005, which received mixed reviews but it was successful enough to make a sequel in 2007, which received negative reviews. FOX rebooted the franchise in 2015 with a movie that was a complete critical and commercial failure. So, let’s hope the third time will be a charm.

No actors have been cast in the upcoming reboot, and now it needs to find a new director. We know that a movie is in development, but it’s not known how is the development going and who knows when that movie will arrive in theaters.
