Nintendo just made the switch: A Complete Killer in the 2022 line-up

And that, the Nintendo Switch would have had its biggest year since its launch. The pieces have been progressively moved into place (and can’t be held), but on paper at least, the portable consoles 2022 will be bookended by Pokemon Legends: Arceus and the Legend of Zelda, two-thirds with a whole lot more in between. It’s now 2017 but bigger.

As of that year, the Switch has been launched with BOTW, and then followed the months of Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey. It was so odd, partly because BOTW was supposed to come to Wii U a few years ago, and that could happen again. And yet, as the Switch hits its middle of the hardware lifecycle, it looks like that’s what happened.

The Nintendo release calendar doesn’t have any sneaking on you. Switch to a seemingly sleepy season when the last fall of the year is re-opened in November, as well as a move from the console of the future to Metroid Dread to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Nintendo Direct earlier this month and ended with the latest Pokemon presents this weekend.

The first event is a slew of new games and confirmed that the program Splatoon 3 is going to hit the summer. The second shock at the announcement of 2022 would mean the release of more ambitious Pokemon years, but also an open world G19 as well as the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Here’s another list of things from the lineup that will be thrown out:

  • Triangle Strategy March 4th, 2017.
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land March 25th, 2013 – nhpl
  • Nintendo Switch sports April 29th.
  • Mario is battling the league.
  • Three emblem warriors: Three hopes June 24th.
  • Pescador 3, Summer.
  • The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 September.
  • Mario and the other arabies Spark of Hope TBD 2022.
  • Bayonetta 3 TBD 2022.

The smaller port and the new series are getting in, too. The advance war 1 + 2: Re-boot camp happens in April. The 2.5D version of the previously unlocalized classic JRPG, Live A Live, will be available in July. Hello Games is putting on No Ones Sky on Switch. Mario Kart 8, the two consoles on the top-selling game, is currently doubling in size next year.

Nintendo has begun quietly laying the groundwork for this back in 2021 with updates on Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3 and BOTW 2 and Splatoon 3. But in recent weeks, a low-key decline has made it seem like it has hit all the right times . The Mario maker can occasionally starve its audience, then underpromize and deliver a good deal. This year, however, its already tipped most of its hand, and could be the strongest of its many years, if it does play it.

That’s a big if, of course. When Pokemon Scarlet and Violet announced yesterday, more than a few fans claimed that BOTW 2 won’t end up hitting this year after all. In the age of covid, Nintendo reportedly struggled with production delays a lot longer than most. In the past, it has hoped that it would remain noncommittal, but its reaffirming the 2022 window continues.

Even if it goes wrong, there are still plenty of switches on the 2022 plate for the strongest years. Now the Nintendo would port over Wind Waker HD.
