Once again, the acquisition of the elusive 1998 Japanese Promo Pikachu Illustrator card, which just acquired a record-breaking $ 900,000 price tag, closed last night in Goldin Auctions. This card was a PSA 7 near mint.
The illustrations, created by Atsuko Nishida, were created by the original inventor of Pikachus, and only awarded a design contest in CoroCoro 1998. Only an estimated 39 were awarded and, according to PokeBeach, only 24 confirmed to exist. of 24 were obtained from the PSA grading process, making them extremely rare and highly sought-after collector’s items.

In 2021, another PSA 7 near Jilla’s Illustrator sold for $ 375,000. This set is the highest mark yet on the card, and was the biggest Pokemon card-related auction until now.
