Rogue Legacy 2 (Thousand Whispers Puzzle) in Memory Fragments

Rogue Legacy 2 has more secrets than the first game, as well as a more expansive castle to explore. With the castle, you may find these floating blue orbs you can interact with, but they don’t share anything; These are called memory fragments. This guide is for you How to read memory fragments.

Throughout the castle, you will find blue orbs that treasure on offer hints, side paths, or even lore. They are just as spread out as journal entries but easy enough to locate.

First Memory Fragment Encounter

When you start a new game and enter the castle proper, you will be greeted with the First Memory Fragment. Interacting with these only now gives you the message “(You hear a thousand whispers, but can’t make a voice…).” These are the Aesop’s Tome Heirloom.

The first thing you’ll want to do is hunt out the proper Heirloom room (map on the orange candle icon) and the Tome statue of Aesop. It will look like the image below but you will be able to identify the text box when you interact with it. Getting to these points can be tricky but the gameplay and randomness of the game can be tricky, but there are a couple things you can do to make it not easy.

If you want to play the game with the default settings, then your best bet is to unlock the Architect that will keep you from the same castle layout / map for 30% off your previous gold in exchange. You can find it here on the Upgrade Tree. As you can tell, this will take a few generations to unlock and quite a bit of gold.

Now you just have to find the Tome of Aesop that contains the Heirloom Room, and even if you have the Perish, setting the Lock World (Always) guarantee you will always enter the exact same castle every single run.
However, if you are cool with making things much easier, you can delve into the House Rules menu. For this, it is recommended that you reduce enemy health and damage by 50% and turn off contact damage. Now you just want to turn on the Enable Flight Toggle, and you’ll be able to swoop your way through the castle with much less risk before dying.
Also, it should be noted that the House Rules menu will not disable achievements.

Once you have found the room, you’ll have to spin the blue stone lanterns to top your way.

Once at the top, you will have to interact with the statue of Aesop of Tome and hit “Yes” when prompted to enter the Heirloom. If you are worried you have got a weakened state here; Starting the Challenge will be completely lost.

First Area

At the very bottom, this level will be a memory fragment that gives you a riddle, “He who gives you only two choices, always a third.”

On both the left and right platforms, you can drop down the wrong answer. What you really want to do is drop a hidden path in the middle, right under the Memory Fragment.

Second Area

This room will be much more difficult than just figuring out a riddle. A combination of jumping and spinning, kicking off the rotating chain fireballs you will need. You’ll be able to see smoke trails and plan their jumping and spin kicks.

Thoughts, this area can also be bypassed easily if you want to turn on the House Rules menu.

Third Area

Aesop's Tome Heirloom Puzzle First Nightmare Encounter

This room will require you to traverse it with spin kicks once more. You will also have a new mechanic: The Nightmare. These orbs pose a unique problem. That area-of-effect you see around them when they shoot at you, and you make them inside of any sort of attack. The Magic They Shoot Through Any Surface And Are Rather Hard To Dodge.

Luckily, there’s a trick to them. If one is out in the open, you can move up and hit the interact button shown above (RB on Xbox / R on PC) to put the orb to sleep briefly, turning off the area-of-effect. Make your way through the magic of dodging the area when you are forced to swing your weapon and shutting down any orbs you get, and you will soon be at the exit.

Fourth Area

Aesop's Tome Heirloom Puzzle Fourth Area First Fight Room

The trick is that you just learned about the nightmares. You will have to fight several waves of enemies that are all inside the Two Nightmare’s area-of-effect. Keep these turned off as soon as you can, and try to finish off enemies as quickly as possible.

This area is actually a nightmare with many different rooms. Sometimes you can turn them off, and sometimes you can’t. This is where it becomes important to learn the magic shoots and dodging of your chances.

The third room will be you and several knights. Just keep breaking the platforms and drop them into the bottom of the room, don’t attack at all.

The fourth room is the last of this section, and then you will be teleported to Aesop’s Tome Heirloom puzzle. Simply walk all the way to the right to collect the Aesop’s Tome Heirloom that will allow you to hear the memory of your journey through memory fragments.
