The Elden Ring in the Unborn of the Great Rune
All of the major story bosses in the Elden Ring will drop a Great Rune, most of which will be activated at the Divine Tower in their respective regions. Upon defending Rennala, you get the Unborn of the Great Rune. However, unlike Godrick’s Rune, this one works a bit differently.
The Great Rune of the Unborn will be activated once you receive it, which means that you do not need to do anything to unlock its power. There is a Divine Tower in the Lakes, but that area is a dungeon in and of itself, and with nothing to do with the Great Rune you just got your hands on it.
Instead, what it does is unlock the ability for you to reserve your character when you speak with Raya Lucaria of the Grand Library. Once you have a Larval Tear and the Great Rune of the Unborn, you will be able to respec your character and completely redo your build. You can even head to the Roundtable Hold and speak with Enia to buy new boss weapons and items after this point.
