Shining Vale is a horror comedy that combines terror and anxiety with the laughter bitterter of the most grotesque situations in which a family can find itself. In the first season, Patricia “Pat” Phelps, a former “wild child” who became famous by writing vulgar novels about women’s emancipation, moves with her family to a big city. But the house she arrives in is a place where terrible atrocities have occurred in the past. Each family has its own demons, but to the Phelps they could be real.
Nothing has been revealed about the plot of the second season but we know the members of the main cast. The first season saw among its performers Courteney Cox (Friends, Cougar Town), Greg Kinnear (Something is changed, The Kennedys) And Mira Sorvino (Hollywood, The Expecting) and these will all return for the second season along with Gus Birney (Dickinson) ), Merrin Dungey (Big Little Lies, The Resident), Dylan Gage (PEN15), with the participation of Judith Light (Impeachment: American Crime Story) And Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks).
Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming STARZ, said:
“Shining Vale is extremely entertaining and at the same time a beautiful three-dimensional portrait of marriage, teenage parenting and motherhood. We are thrilled to offer viewers another season of this cheering blend of horror and comedy. We are thrilled to welcome Jeff, Sharon, Courteney, Greg, Mira and the entire cast once again for a second season of Shining Vale. In the first season, fans and critics alike fell in love with this disturbing comedy. It is a special project that balances restlessness with laughter, all by adopting a new approach to topics that particularly appeal to female audiences such as aging, feminine ideals, menopause and mental illness. “
Jeff Astrof, co-creator, executive producer and showrunner, added:
“After the incredible reaction from fans to the first season, Sharon and I can’t wait to tell the next eight chapters of our story. I look forward to the challenge of raising the bar further. But we can do anything; after all – We’re the Phelps! – “.
