While the 2021 edition had a small section in attendance for media and business visitors, the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association announced that the 2022 edition will finally open its doors to the general public again at the traditional Makuhari Messe venue in Chiba, near Tokyo.
September 15 and 16 will be business days, open to media and business attendees only as usual, while September 17 and 18 will be public days for everyone. The small difference from the traditional setup is that the general public will also be accepted on September 16 after 2:00 pm local time.
That being said, the event will also bring back a strong online presence last year, with most livestreams in both Japanese and English, demos and virtual reality tours for those who cannot attend.
In order to comply with Japanese national and local government policies, the number of tickets sold will be limited to children and elementary school age and younger will not be accepted to the venue.

The Exhibition Areas at the venue will include the usual General Exhibition Area, Smartphone Game Area, eSports Area, VR / AR Area, Indie Game Area, Game School Area, and Merchandise Sale Area.
B-to-B areas will also be provided as they have been in the past years.
The Sense of Wonder Night 2022 event will be dedicated to indie games hosted online, while the Japan Game Awards 2022 will also come back with their own livestream.
More online activities will include online demonstrations on Venue and many official programs on YouTube, Twitter, niconico, Twitch, Huya, DouYu, and other leading video platforms. The Online Experience Tour, free trials and demos, the B-to-B online matching system, and the Tokyo Game Show VR Tour will also return.
Applications for exhibitors at the venue are open today.
